Biography

Biography

Nurse scientist and nurse at University Medical Centre of Utrecht (UMCU) – Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital, The Netherlands. In January 2000, Agnes van den Hoogen graduated in Clinical Health Science (Cardiff University, Wales, UK). September 2009 she obtained her Ph.D at the University of Utrecht. Thesis: Infections in Neonatal Intensive: Care Prevalence, Prevention and Antibiotic use. Promoter: Prof. F. van Bel MD Clinical Interest: Neonatal infections, Management of Intra Venous access in Neonates, Ethics, Epidemiology and Education

Current professional situation: Postdoc researcher and neonatal nurse at the NICU of Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital, UMCU. Qualified in education and teacher in clinical health science. Topics of education are ethics, systematic literature research and coaching of students in research. Engaged in various educational activities regarding neonatal health care. Member of Call to Action, to achieve the Millennium Development Goal for child survival (MDG-4) Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the EFCNI (European Foundation for the care of newborn infants)

President of the European Society for Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC) from 2009-2013 and member of the scientific board since 2006. Committee member in the Council of International Neonatal Nurses (COINN). Member of Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing Rho Chi- Chapter et large.
